Whether its a cracked head or head gasket, i was told it was cheaper and easier to just put a new lump in...i just hope and pray that once its all done i dont have any other problems......

    i feel your pain.....
Geese thats terrible dude would that have contributed to any of the other problems that you were havng

I know guys, this sucks bigtime!

Apparently when Golf loon compression tested it, cylinders were ranging between 130 and 150...cylinder 6 was 90psi......so either a cracked head or gasket on the side leaking gases into my cooling system making it overheat...that would explain why all my hoses were popping left right and centre!

Everyone is tellling me to sell the VR after its fixed....even if i did and i got 7k for it...what else am i to buy with that money???......thank God i get the car real cheap, so even with the cost of a new engine i can still make my money back....

Now i just cant wait to get it back and i pray i dont have anymore probs after that.....fingers crossed! but i tell you one thing, in the finance department, after this job it has cleaned me out......

I just finished paying for the last lot of work on the VR6... and now it looks like im up for another bunch of labour not to mention any parts that might be needed!

Still i love my golf, and i doubt it'd find anything anywhere near as fun for the money.

Aparently the clutch fork has broken which is aparently a common fault, i asked why they didnt replace it when they did the clutch and the response was "it looked ok but it might have been bent"

not really happy, perhaps someone can suggest a new volks mechanic that isnt a rip off and/or doesnt overlook common faults!!!

Dont you wish though that sometimes you could just have a normal car....somrthing that is relliable, cheap on fuel and has cheap and readily available parts. I get ***** from my mates, family and even the missus about the golf, and how we should get something more relliable etc....

I know that they are partly right as its not feasible tow own a car you struggle to maintain on a daily basis, but seriously you cant go from having a VR to owning a Holden or Mistu****su......the only cars i would buy after this would have to be a mk4 R32, another VR6 or a 3 series BMW....maybe Audi A3

Just got to win the lotto first, came damn close last week....
