    I need some parts@!!$!#

    Hello all,

I need some help finding who stocks these sorta things. Im after a rear bump stop for my rear shocks and im also after a slotted strut nut tool to remove the slotted nut from my front strut!

VW sell the bumpstop for a whopping $160 a pair plus 4 weeks shipping from Germany (its $5 everywhere overseas) And the local suspension shop doesnt have them. As for the tool, ive been to all the tool shops that sell good **** not just repco and they dont have them. We made an attempt to make our own but it didnt work out and id prefer to buy a proper one.

I want my springs/shocks put in by next thursday and definately by the cruise so all help is appreciated.

Get a big socket and an air compressor. That should get the top shock nut off. Can you drive the car here? I have a ghetto tool to do the job that I`ll lend you if not. Also have a good rear bump stop if you like.

Nar mate cant drive it, i took out the front and rear struts off the drivers side. How much for the bumpstop? I dont have air tools unfortunately

Might need to work something out because if i bring one strut, i still need the tool for the other side.

Come down to the workshop with what you have and we`ll sort it out. I`ll lend you the tool and you can bring it to the cruise.

Snap on sell the tool for the strut. I used to struggle with a modified ring spanner in the early days before buying the right tool and/or using a battery impact gun.

The mk3 bumpstops are big money but the mk2 ones do the same job. gsfcarparts.com now do one which is made from rubber and won't disintegrate like the foam ones. I'd get a pair of them. Certainly cheaper than 160 even with delivery from the UK and less than 4 weeks too.

I fitted a pair to evorobins GTI.

For the strut nut, i used a 22mm spark plug tool, because you can use a shifter or spanner on those and still have a hex/allen key through the middle...then I used a 7mm hex/allen key with extension to get enough torque on the bastard!

Theres a snap on tools right near where i live so ill fork out the money and I can lend it out if anyone needs it. Hopefully they have it. Funnily i have all the allen key sizes minus that one.

I got a another question. The new rear shocks i bought are a little bit longer and the lower spring mount thingy sits about 1.5cm higher. Question is will it affect my ride height since im not changing the front ones? Heres a pic:

That will jack the back up mate if you fit that. I'd be checking you have got the right shock there.
