How to pull apart the stupid bonnet lifter Mechanism

This is probably for the more experienced guys but anyone can chime in.

How do you pull apart the bloody bonnet lifter mechanism, it doesn't seem like it can be pulled apart or for that instance put back together by any ordanry person

So how do you do it???

Which bit? The black plastic joiner piece in the engine bay, or the actual latch mechanism?

Matt the actual latch mechanism, it doesn't look like it can be pulled apart and then put together again
