    how much for a vr6 engine

    yes how much as i might have bent valves and just woundering what would work out cheaper to replace valaves and chains and etc... or just buy a second hand vr6 engine

    Generally cheaper to replace the engine. No idea on cost tho, sorry.

    The engine in my car was replaced due the previous owner smacking the sump, thus bending the oil pickup, severe engine damage etc

    I actually have the receipt; from Brooky Parts it cost $1650 for an engine with 65000km on it.

    yea good question.

    I just come back from nz to have my chains become loose and bend my exhaust valves in my VR

    ive been tossing up where to get a second motor or just parts. Parts alone are gonan be $1000

    just had a vr engine put in a second golf vr6 last week! the engine cost me $1000 without throttle body , put new water pumps on ect $1800 hundred all up fitted, the engine was from a half cut from japan with 80 000 klm on it , it truly sounds sick , lowerd on bilstein and konis all round , will put some pics on photo bucket soon ......by the way it was lordcrumbs vr that i bought for $1800 ...

    If it was me i am a vr6 owner myself id reco the head doesn't cost all that much its like $6 a valve only have 12 labor is the killer in any job go new everything head gasket, valves, valve steam seals and id look at a bit of port work and a 3 way angle grind on the valves, vr6 heads are known for poor flow then you have piece of mind its all new and bit extra performance and while the head is off they can check bores for marks and piston slap at least you will know your engine

    yeah you can prob have the head rebuild for under 1000, another motor with over 150k's will still need the chains done anyway.
