yeah i'd tried getting long nose pliers and pulling the rod up (beian careful not to rip threads off that is) but its at the top of its travel.

one of those pictures is of how much thread at the top of the rod is sticking through the mount. not enough is sticking through to get any of the mounting bits onto it.

the other pic shows how much shorter the whole thing is compared to the stock one. both rods in that pic are pulled as far up as possible.

Surely in that pic it goes metal top hat, rubber mount, then through the car, rubber mount again, nut, then metal washer then other nut?

Reverse of how you pulled em out.

You can also wind the bottom seat of the coilover down to assist with fitting and adjust when they are in.

its got, metal top hat, rubber mount, a spacer type thing that sits inside the mount from stock, but its not exactly stuck... then nothing because the rod doesnt came up far enough to attach anything more.

perhaps i shoudl take this mount thing out?

ill try take another picture of this spacer

by take this mount out i meant take this spacer out. either way it didnt give me anymore room to attach other nuts or rubber mounts.
    im completely stumped

i cant push the rod up any further cos the spring is already doing that so its not like i can get it any higher...has anyone else run into this problem with these or other coilovers?

    thanks for any help

    AHH!
i was trying to sleep and it came to me in a dream that i think i have the metal top hat and the cylindrical spacer thing in the wrong order. ill have to wait till romorrow to try it cos i cant be stuffed now, but i have the cylindrical spacer thing (which can be seen in one of the photos, the one with the two struts, new and old, its just above the new one to the right a little) on first then the top hat which is keeping it away from rod, so i dont have clearance to get the rod further through the mount hole.

am i right in thinking it should go Spring>metal top hat>cylindrical spacer which fits in the middle of the mount>rubber mount>nut>metal washer>nut?

if that doesnt work i dont know what will.

when i got the coilovers out of the box one side had the spacer bellow the top hat, the other on top.
the reason i figured it must go bellow the top hat was cos it felt like the top hat sat on it better that way. where as if the top hat goes on first it feels like the rod will punch a whole through the top hat...though i suppose it wont with the spacer on the other side along with the nut and what not...

hope im right cos my brain hurts now!
will try tomorrow and post more pics/problems, which ever comes first

    ta

At this point the coilover should be ready to in. If it doesn't quite reach the top, just use a jack and raise the beam up. What I usually do is have the lower mounting bolt screwed on (but not fully tightened) on both sides and raise the beam slowly, aiming the coilover so the piston will go through the opening. Once through, then it's:

So i finished my lazy coilover install.
Freakin awesome. that pretty much all i can say. ive got it dialed down pretty low in the back and as low as i can practically go in the front.

at first i had it at about 4 cm from the bottom of the threads in the front, and the same in the rear. front looked and was ok, but the back rubbed on almost everything once the springs setteled at their hight.
which annoyed the CRAP out of me. i couldnt even turn the corner without the back wheels rubbing the guards. looked like the cats pajamas but i couldnt stand the noise and the wincing over every bump and driving like a granny so it didnt scrape.

so the next day i raised the rear up about 1.5 cm which made it alot better, though the LHR still rubs probaly every hundred metres just due to road imperfections. so ill probably have to raise it another 10-15mm untill i can get the rear guards rolled.
dropped the fronts another 15mm. it could probably go for another 10-15 mm drop in the front but then i wouldnt be able to get in my drive way and this looks ok i suppose...we'll see!
    anyway, heres some pics now

obviously i need to mow the grass

at the moment the tyres are about 5-10mm away from the guard lip so i need to get that crap rolled asap cos i like it this low. the only reason i cant get the front any lower, practically is because when i go over the speed bumps that i need to do sometimes, it bottoms out on the sills/chassis rails as the front of the car somes down the other side of the speed bump. freakin lame!

my only complaints, and i have two of them.
    1. the rubbing at the rear, but thats not really a complaint bacuase thats my fault.
    2. how bouncy it is. but then again i could raise it and itll be a bit less bumpy, so i suppose my complaint in that area is...i cant be as low as i want and be a little less bouncy. its reletively ok, just a little bouncy at times thats all.

other than that, alli can say is, I AM SO FREAKIN HAPPY.
best mod so far, not that ive actually chaged much but i am really impressed with these thing.
deffinate thumbs up from me for Hot Tuning Coilovers, and a big thumbs up to Evorobin!

    thanks man!

ive been thinkin lately about what i can do with the wheels. thinking of having the parts not on the main 5 spoke surface painted black and the 5 spokes and the really thin lip polished up somehow. still gotta look into it thou
