Hey, wanna know what a VR6 weighs?

I went to wanneroo race track last night just to take pix of the amateur night. Good fun. There was a 2002 M3 ripping it up hardcore, awesome to watch!

But as I was talking crap to mates, I spotted a weighbridge. Naturally we all weighed ourselves first. I've gained a bit Then I ran off and got the golf...

    1260kgs!!! WTF???

Others had Evo 9s, wrxs, and skylines which were heavier but one dude put on his n/a Subi Forrester, 1380! Thats a 4WD wagon!

Fatty Golf gunna have to go on a diet!

mine was 1220 or so when it was corner weighted.

Early subys are very light. newer ones are getting quite porky by comparison though

    Damnnnn, the ibiza must fly!

I'm wondering how I can shed a bit of weight... I spose the leather interior would be contributing to the grand total a bit, wouldnt it?

Fuel, spare tire/jack, stereo, air con, sound insulation, carpets, power windows, 20 inch chromies, the overweight dubber. All these contribute towards to the weight of the car.

Also consider that most japanese cars i.e evo etc. lack half of those things above like air con and power windows and sounproofing. Primarliy in this case the chubby dubber

Just don't get too carried away, and turn the thing into an undrivable expensive brick, nothing worse than a car that doesn't get driven.

    oh too right mate.

Depends how drastic you want to get with the weight loss. If it's your daily, there's not much you can do, unlesss you want a loud uncomfotable hot ride (pictures james may naked in AM N24 in italy - hmmm...)

But if you like you eardrums bleeding, get rid of sound deading is a bit tricky, but do able, spare wheel, jack, tools. back seats. Passanger seat. Interior trims.. you could basically strip it out. but that would be silly. Or would it.... hahahaha

Lol james may naked in a race car, I remeber that. Despite being my favourite top gear presenter, that scene did disturb me a bit. No alot actually .

But also, unless you do some serious work its rather hard to shave kilo's off. like 4-5% of the body weight for several hours of removal and post reinstall? Is it worth it? I'm not so sure.

Lol that exhaust would sound fantastic too, if your about 30 feet away hahaha.

It's pretty loud, especially at 80 in 5th, between 2 and 3 grand it's pretty loud in the cabin. But it does sound good.

I should make up some video of how it sounds now, both in and outside the car. (even if it's just for me to hear it)

I had mine on a diet for ages. No rear seats, no rear trims, no stereo, so spares, no tools, no carpet ect. Was damn loud, but otherwise, made very little differance that i could feel.
