Hey there guys, I've just replaced the coil-pack in my VR6 and despite the significant difference its made I'm still having another similar "misfiring" if you can call it that, issue with the car. I basically get a slight hesitation which comes on and off quickly, with the occasional popping sound coming out of the exhaust and also from the bay. After which the car promptly gets off it's backside and thunders away. It doesn't happen all the time and only comes once the car is off cold cycle. The car has had its leads, and spark plugs and now the coil-pack changed in the last 12 months.
I have yet to get it scanned but thats definately one of the first things I'll do once the holiday break is over.
Thanks in advance, Branko.

Definitely sounds fuel related.
Going by past experience, it could possibly be an intermittent fuel pump - sometimes as they get older the impeller starts to slip. They're about $300 for a brand newie.
Could also be an intermittent fuel pump relay.
Also - do a check of your vacuum lines and fuel pressure regulator (Make sure there is no fuel on the vacuum line side of your FPR).
Dirty injectors have also been known to cause some hesitation.
You're just not putting your foot down hard enough!!
I think it's a bit of a curse for all VR's....mine does it and I just replaced leads which made it heaps better. The bloody car has recently led me to think my clutch isn't grabbing properly...LOL!

Hey Branko,
Have you made any progress on this? My VR6 is doing the exact same thing, still happens when the car is warm, but not as bad, I've also just replaced the plugs, leads last week and now today a Coil Pack, but the problem still persists..
Thanks!
Sven

Hey there Sven, well I've had the plugs and one of the leads changed as well a 2nd hand fuel pump swapped over which it seemed did make the car significantly better at higher RPM it still had this problem occasionally. Also a VAG-COM scan showed that there was nothing wrong at all...
Alas, sadly on the way back from the workshop my car had begun to deteriorate badly, the misfiring began to creep back in, and every time I put my foot down it just went horribly. The car now sounds like WRX and goes slower than an RX I'm honestly surprised I made it back, hasn't gotten worse i.e. stopped working but I believe that whatever was originally wrong with it, has completely died and gone to heaven.
My birthday is this week and I cbf even thinking about a problem I cannot comprehend! So yeah I'll keep you and everyone else updated on this, well after the 18th of January that is

Scan for codes might show nothing, and they dont need to either, but have a look at the figures via measured value blocks.
