    Help Required - Spring Compression

    Hi Guys,

I'm in the middle of replace my suspension mounts on my VR6.

I've removed the strut and compressed the springs enough to remove the top hat and existing top mount.

I'm trying to reassemble it but for some reason I can't compress the spring enough to reassemble.

    Am I missing a trick?

I've done this to so many car in the past but this is the 1st time I've ran into this issue :S

The only thing I reckon could have happened is the piston has fallen into the housing. As it's probably not a gas one. Just pull the piston out before trying again.

I've got the strut completed dismantled with the spring off, I'm trying to get the spring to compress enough so I can screw the hat and nut on top but the spring physically won't compress enough :/

As Gav said, pull the shock shaft up. They sink into the strut housing.
