Anyone know what colour wires I have to tap into??
Opened it up can't find which one is which
Got the wiring diagram but wasnt really good at school not to sure to how read one
From looking at the Bentley wiring diagram....
Black/Red = Left Brake Light (in the 6 pin connector on the left tail light)
Grey/Black = Left Tail Light (in the 6 pin connector on the left tail light)
Black/White = Left Rear Turn Signal (in the 6 pin connector on the left tail light)
Brown = Ground (in the left tail light in the 4 pin connector)
Black/Red = Right Brake Light (in the 6 pin connector on the left tail light)
Grey/Red = Right Tail Light (in the 4 pin connector on the left tail light)
Black/Green = Right Rear Turn Signal Light (in the 4 pin connector on the left tail light)
Hope that's good info
Thanks a lot for that almost done now
I just want to know which colour wire is for the number plate lights??
Looks to be a grey/green wire in a 5 pin connector possibly in the rear left light too.....
Any advice on having a towbar installed on a manual 2011 Golf Comfortline 118TSI in Sydney? I just tried contacting Carasel who put the bar on my previous car - a commodore s/w - and they said that "because of wiring problems they do not fit bars to VW vehicles. They need to go back to VW for reprogramming."

To add the required wiring for the trailer lights to work correctly and not interfere with those on the car itself, an additional control module needs to be installed. The CAN-bus gateway module already fitted to the car then needs to be re-programmed to communicate with the additional module. This needs to be done by Volkswagen's diagnostic computer (or the various similar devices on the market).
