most people who attempt to port there own will hurt flow more than improve it.
Its because of the variable runner lengths that make it hard to keep even flow.
port matching will cause the flow of air to lose velocity, hence the loss of power
God the deeper I research on parts and machining the scarier this project is getting ! this is my daily car and the amount of power I want is just not streetable especially on out roads down here unless i build the motor and tune it to be quick enough for street and track use not maximum power which would be more reliable . like i said at the start this is not a project to be finished in 1 year its as i get enough funds as i have a drift car to finish off. i will be taking my block and head to my engine builder for inspection and to get a basic idea on what will be involved and the costs in a few months time as he doesnt have time at the moment .if this engine alone is going to cost me more then 15 grand i probably wont attempt it since its too much for me to handle as it is. and george the engine was pulled apart in half an hour after u left i hope everything goes smooth!

don't want to scare ya, as i am all for it, but i do agree that you will need some deepish pockets to complete it. good luck with it!
APR dont build these kind of cars . How many cars has APR built with a turbo bigger than a gt3071 ? Especially an older car ?
Everyone seems to mention what the engine is going to cost , magically the rest of the car will handle the power and torque .
Your gonna need a clutch to transfer the power to the gearbox , your gonna need straight cut gears etc in the box to handle the power/torque . The whole gearbox will need to be re-inforced . Then there is the driveshafts , hubs . Suspension V3s as a minumum , you can get cheaper suspension but its going to be a trial and error in terms of getting the right spring rates . Then you have the whole chassis . If you not running a cage expect to start popping the welds that hold everything together . There have been numerous cases where people have broken the welds on the front engine support bar , with stock power . Increase torque by 4 times and see what will happen . Its highly recommended to seam weld a lot of sections that are just spot welded to stop them from breaking . A mk3 is not like a mk5 which can handle big power easily . Its needs a lot of re-inforcement .

i just spoke to my engine machiner and he said that match porting would be the best to do on a vr6 since the head flow is very poor he said that i should use a 24v head which would be better but i wana stick with the 12v this build is goin to tak longer than i thought it would also im not aiming for unusable power anymore since its my daily . so around 200-230kw mark .

200-230kw. Just buy a stage 2 kit. And up the boost. Very easy with stock engine and head spacer.
Im taking the car to a Dyno day this saturday to see how much stock kilowasps it will push I highly doubt it will make100kwatw just doesnt feel like it but we will see.I just hate the fact that a vr6 only makes 128kw at the flywheel when its a 6cyl 2.8L ? my mates 1.8 corrolla makes 160kw with a CAI its just embarresing . lately the cars been acting weird where the power is on and off in different rev ranges it just pisses me off.
there has to be a way to make our heads flow better. this is why i want to build the new motor ground up so i know everything is in good condition even though i want it to be 200-230 kw i know that the engine will be able to handle more so it ill be more reliable well depending how you drive .my heads all over the place and theres too many options so im trying to get my head straight and go ahead with it before i lose motivation since ive been running around allot.
