I recall an item on TV where they used a baseball bat and used it between the tyre and the guard edge to toll it. Basically the bat was wedged in between the tyre edge and the guard and the vehicle rolled forward pulling the baseball bat with it.
I'd say just go slow, don't put too much pressure on it and just work away at it until you're happy. You'll get a feel for it pretty fast. Chances are you will get a little "dent" (for lack of a better word) on the front where the holes are for the fender liners, I really don't know any way of avoiding that and have seen professional jobs exactly the same, so there mustnt be an easy way around it. If you're getting it resprayed though it would be easy to get them to fill it though to get it looking perfect. Backs are easy once you get all the sealer out

The rolling is the easy part, the hard part is keeping the heat just right and trying to not crack the paint. From experience it's a bit hit and miss, rolled my mk1 guards WITHOUT a heat gun at all and they turned out beautiful and didnt crack at all, yet I've rolled plenty of other cars with a heatgun and have suffered paint cracking. It's just something you have to live with..
well im going to have to see for myself then . ill be taking pictures of progress when i start . i had to send my wheels back to the shop because it didnt come out 100% lucky there doing it for freealso waiting for my roller to arrive

Today I "Hammer" finished the guard rolling we started a while back Josh. Wait till you see it now...
Funnily enough, I did less damage with hammer/no heat gun, than with heat gun and roller!
Note to OP...you may have to undo/drop your struts to get your roller attached and adjusted/angled properly.

Ive started playing around with height and camber adjustments today and got it this far without the tyres scraping on the guards.but to me the car sits too high and it needs minor guard rolling.sorry its a bad quality pic I only had time to work on it after work. i want to go at least 25mm loweralso ive started repraying my black bumper and door trims it was fading out and needed a refresh you can tell by the front lip ill be buying a set of guard flares since mine were all broken
