Golf VR6 - start up issue, can anyone help?

Hi all, I drive a 94 Golf Mk3 Vr6. I performed a mini service about a week back which included air filter, pollen air filter, plugs, oil and oil filter. Car running better than ever however ive noticed in the last few days when starting the car, it seems to take a good 5 odd seconds for the motor to kick over.
It seems to be craking over, etc fine but the only way I can describe the sound from the motor is almost like it is dry, and then it springs to life. Once running, car runs fine, no issues what so ever.
    Has anyone experiences this before?
I have checked oil levels and they are fine, checked leads, etc and all fine..

When you say it sounds 'dry', do you mean it sounds starved of fuel? Having just done a service I'd be looking at the fuel rail, make sure it's all properly sealed, etc and make sure it's getting enough fuel.
If ok check lines and pump, as well as throttle body/TPS.
Sometimes can be painful but the noise of a VR is awesome

I have to agree, Im running a Remus Exhaust, suit case removed, air box has been modifed to allow more air, etc.. Sound a $1mil under throttle.
When I say dry, amost as if no oil, however I dont think this is the case. When turning ignition on, fuel pump starts and you can hear it huming away so I dont think that is the issue either.
I have gone from a 0w50 to a 10w 50 so I woinder if this could have anything to do with it? Ive also added Lucas Addtive which is phenominal. Ive never had a naissue with Lucas in the past so doubt that this would be the issue also..

Same exhaust setup as me, is an amazing sound!
Only other things I may suggest is putting an oil pressure gauge on it and check the pressures. Is there any problem with flashing icons? May be some crap in the oil pick up
Otherwise put it on a vagcom and check for sensor issues, etc.

could be a possibility, not discounting it. just seens strange would fail after oil change. Im slowly starting to come to the conlusion that maybe its the timing chain or rails or both.. im due to have them done soon.. ive got the kit already.. hopefully holds out before then. Ive got a new oil pan and gasket also so ill get pump checked seeing as it and motor are coming out
