interesting, idk what i'd do. Probably colour code the whole thing. maybe you/someone could photoshop your ideas and see what it looks like.
Eitherway ill be interested to see what you end up doing
Hey guys just really need your opinion here
I currently bought a badgeless grill off dubstop international. now, i have only noticed that with this mk3 grill, the slats stop and theres a section seperating the lights to the slats on the grill.
Now, my original idea was to paint the bottom section to colour code it, but now since i have a grill with a section seperating the slats, should i paint that too? or would it be wierd if i left it black?.
Thing is...i havent seen 1 other golf mk3 with this grill, so i cannot find any inspiration as to what to do...

I've seen it done both ways before, and it looks a lot better with the whole thing painted the same colour.
Will try and find some pics of it not painted if I can find them.

Ahh this is the same badgeless grille Chris' parents got for his Mk3.
Being 1 piece i think it will be fiddly to leave the slats black and have a nice edge to it.
I would only paint the lower section (before the slats start) and leave the rest black.

Wow quite interesting, thanks for the feedback n pictures, now i actually know what it looks like.
But i dont know if just painting the bottom bit will work, because the thing is, it isnt exactly a straight cut bottom bit, theres a little ridge where the side bit and the bottom of the grill stop.
dont mind my paint illustration, had to quickly show you somehow .
The Jetta/Vento had a similar grille. Here's some with colour-coded slats and black slats:
If you mask it off well enough, the black slats can look good. Easiest would be to just colour-code the whole thing though.
Ok, now ive quickly photoshoped the picture that ray ray provided above (forgive me of my shotty job, i really dont know how to use ps properly).
These are my ideas for the grill:
ORIGINAL:
bottom painted only:
slats painted only:
Slats painted black with top section black too (this one will be hard as there's no distinct line between the black to the colour on the top section):
What do you guys reckon?
Must admit the first one looks best, all painted, but then we are biased the second choice would be slats painted only, what light do you have on your's cause that can make a difference to how it looks too, cheers, good luck with your choice.
