GOLF GL - Painting Trimmings black

Hey guys just wanted your opinions on a couple of things

Now, i'm planning on touching up the side skirts/spoiler/front lip/rear bottom trim.
currently its a mixture of faded grays n white, and to my knowledge its some sort of plastic.

I was planning on painting it black, but im not too sure if this will really work out, could i try use a dye based product? like forever black/black wow? or should i prep/paint/clear coat them? or, go to a professional?

Any suggestions or advice would be much appreciated

Give them a good clean/scrub to get any dirt/grime off, maybe a light rub down with some fine sandpaper or scotch pad and apply a few light coats of bumper black (or similar bumper plastic black paint) which you can find in most decent auto shops.

I did this about 3 years ago when I got the car and its still looking pretty good!

i went over all my trim with forever black and it looks much better that it did. I'd actually gone over it all with shoe polish a couple weeks earlier and think becuase of the silicone or something in that in some places it wouldnt really dry evenly. After giving it a good wash with the prep solution and going over with a couple more coats though it does look pretty good though

Probably a bit easier then the painting route, but then again Lorenz's spoiler in that pic looks fantastic.

I will vouch for forever black, i did all my trims and they still look sweet, so much cleaner and easy process then painting.

+ you could always go over it with forever black (a few coats should get it nice and dark), and if not happy with it then go through the pain of painting. The stuffs only like $15

Dare I say get a a bottle of amour all original car protectant?
It may not be as effective but I found after the 3rd or 4th rub down with amour all, my bumpers have virtually gone from grey to a deep black.
I just rub a little on every 3rd wash and it just keeps getting better.

i think i might give the forever black a shot seems to be the cheaper option at this stage...though if it doesnt hold well, might have to go with lorenzs option of painting, because for one, i can rub the top layer off of my spoiler with my finger.. lol?.

Would be doing it at this stage, but the 1 free day i have down in melb it decides to rain heavily and flood, yay....
