    Going Limp

    Does anyone know how to disable the limp mode in a VR6? I sometimes have to pull out in to busy traffic while the car is cold and after the initial burst I then become a traffic hazard when the car splutters along and threatens to cut out.

    I don't reckon the VR has a limp mode. I suspect you have a real problem. Getting the ECU scanned with VAG-COM or similar is the way to go.

    Does the car behave normally otherwise?

    I have no idea what people are talking about with this so called limp mode?! I own a 94 VR6 and the very limited number of times i've flatened it whilst cold, it did exactly what it should do . . . kick ass!

    I would have to agree that people who experience this may have a real issue and also should teach you a lesson for mashing the big pedal whilst cold

    Had the same issue let the car warm up once it gets to 50 degrees on the MFA farkin haul ass!
    I'm soo euro even my missus is shaved...

    car should still run smooth when its cold. Maybe check your coolant temp sensor is accurate

    Mine has a limp mode. Nothing I can do about it. Let your donk warm up, then go nuts.

    Yep this is built into the ecu of AAAs up to a certain year ( sure it was the early ones) and thats why some of you are experiencing it and others not, its not a problem and like someone has mentioned wait till the MFA reads 50 and all good.

    how bad are we talking here though? My 95 VR6 only really stumbles a little bit if u really flog the titties off it. Shouldnt really stop u from pulling into traffic unless youre a mad man! Have some mechanical sympathy for the old girl!

    mine runs/sounds like a 5cyl if you go over 3200rpm when its reading less than 50 on the mfa
