Glad it got sorted man! Just in time for the glorious sunshine we are getting dude
I have been to dealers in the UK and quite literally shown them how to find parts for my cars on EKTA/VCDS! You know there is something wrong when the guy in the parts dept tries selling you a part for the wrong car and insists they are right. The most fun i had was when i had my mk2 golf with a 2.0l mk3 engine in it. The parts guy would insist i gave him the chassis number for the car when ordering engine bits and i kept telling them that the chassis isnt going to help as it has a newer ABF engine.
One time a guy asked me what car I wanted a part for and I said Corrado... he told me VW didn't make the Corrado, Toyota did. I told him I didn't mean Corolla, I meant Corrado...to which he replied "sorry never heard of it". At which point I left...
If you think about the time and effort we put into our cars (trawling through forum posts, reading articles, trying things ourselves and trying to learn how our car works)... a "tech" working for a dealer will never have the same commitment to investigate issues on older cars...If there isn't a quick fix or a step by step fault finding manual then you can pretty much guarantee they will just give up any proper investigation and blindly suggest replacing part x y z with the hope you will just accept AND the chance it actually fixes your problem!
DIY FTW!!!

lmao, good read :p
haha.......and yes, diy ftw![]()
Hah I to have told my local dealership what's right an whats wrong, that's just the problem you have these days with all these young lads that work for a vdub dealer but drive jap an commonhore's !
How ever I just came across a dealership where there are still some older men working there since back in da days, an one of them just recently restored a vr6 back to the point, where it just left the factory floor back in Germany !!!
Literally brand new inside out, from paint to the carpet. I'll take some pics the next time I go there.
Go's to show that if u find the right place shiit always works.
Btw have you tried reading the owners manual for your car, or did you not get one when u bought it?
I never knew how open my hatch with the key for some reason, so I just read the owners manual an hay presto !

oh, good pointhahaha, i'll do that and see what it says.....
pics of said vr would be awesome!
So there's a little bit of embarrassment, the manual says to not turn it to ignition... so instead of web searching I should've just turned to it in the first placelol
The inner part of my headlights have been loose and broken since I bought the car and because of that I didn't pay much detail to "joey" modding them and sprayed bombed the **** out of them! haha........ i've had these hellas in shippment for some time now, DHL has fkd around bad, but they arrived today.......brokenhoping something can be done....

That sucks man :/ Hopefully you can get them replaced somehow. If not, maybe you could try putting the lenses from a set of oem headlights on them or something? I saw a photo of some black mk4 look headlights with the mk3 fluted glass on them and thought it looked sweet, considered doing it myself even but can't afford new headlightsNo idea if it'd look any good, what it would do to light output or if theyd even fit on those though
I was going to do that actually anyway because I hate the clear glass look on our mk3's :p.... but I still want them fresh so I have two spare lenses........... but I have a win either way![]()
