Hahaha that's awesome mate!!! I'd like to do my own someday too with the fabric I want to use for my headliner. As I see it, you matched the shape of the original boot for this leather one? Also, is that orange shoelaces??

    Chers Guys,

Yes very satisfying... more so then my headliner! Cause that was a PITA!

Ray I tried to use the original shape as a template. I made 3 paper gaiters, and then used one as a template after unsewing it... this was made 1cm too short around the base! Doh!

So I redid every measurement on the computer and printed out some templates this time The job was good.

Oh yeah the rope not a shoelace - but using a funky coloured shoelace is a good idea.
I used this orange nylon braid I had lying around. can't remeber if it was covering something as a braid or if it was a rope. Then I did some Sailor's Whipping on the ends with some of the black thread I used to sew it together.

Yeah... I could dye it... but the beige is growing on me as it is contrast to the black dash etc - and bright blue headliner. LOL

Haha that's awesome. Will be taking your tips on board when it comes around to getting mine fitted Might be a good idea to use elastic for the base too - my current leather boot is elastic-bound on the base.
