Ok now we have a problem, ANY help would be greatly appreciated.

O'briens are happy to re-do the work with a geniune rubber mount/seal, problem is they cant find one.

I've rung volkswagen parts myself and they say the mount/seal (or whatever you call it) comes with the glass itself. Thusly the only way to get the glass to sit properly is to replace it with new glass (which o'brien quoted me at $720 fitted).

So now I'm in a pickle, I have a rear window mounted all wrong on my pride n joy and there seems little I can do about it (except smash the window and start again). If anybody has any ideas or can source me the genuine mount/seal on its own PLEASE let me know!!

Dude, ring vw back and tell them to get fudged. a seal isn't glass, so it can be separated. I reckon they just don't wanna order something small, hence not making money on it. Give them some firm words and I reckon you might get somewhere.

I got a whole tailgate (hatch / boot door) off golfwagen, so they had to remove the window out of it and put it into mine. The seal on the old boot door was totally old and cracked so they couldnt recycle

If they can't find one, get a replacement one again with the window in there and get it sprayed

Who knows? Considering the car is 13 years old the seal in my car was probably in crap condition too *shrug*

I would *LOVE* to respray the car + get new glass put in, but thats thousands - which I dont have

not the whole car dude, just the panel! Shouldn't be more than like 300 at a good price, and if obrien's quoted 720 new you have some room to play! after all, you have the right to have it replaced as it was before, so if before was original then new must be original too.

I... dont get what your saying.

The tailgate I got from golfwagen has had its glass removed and put into my car.

I'd love to respray my WHOLE car as the paint is fading and I have a lot of stone chips on the bonnet + front bumper.

The current situ with the rear window = I'm probably making a mountain out of a mole hill over this but it gives me the ****s every time i look at it.
