i think there is a how to somewhere in the mk3 section, if not try searching the tex.
i've been told that the easiest way to get at the motor to change the clutch is to remove the entire front end from the car - is this an easy task ??
My 94 Mk3 TDi needs the clutch doing and I'll change the front shocks and mounts at the same time.
Just wondering whats involve rather than stuffing my back up !

i think there is a how to somewhere in the mk3 section, if not try searching the tex.
To get the front off, undo the bolts where the red dots are.
Where there are blue dots, you'll have to undo plugs for horns, lights twist connector thingy, hood popper cable. You'll also have to undo the radiator, and air con condenser. When you undo AC, be careful of the gas, and don't breathe it in...
There are also some clips to hold the wheel arch plastic guard in place, and when putting the bumper back on, make sure you line up the bumper slots near the wheels...
Hope that helps...
Neat
thanks golf3, that has to be so much easier, i'm wondering if its possible to do it without disturbing the gas condenser, being a diesel I expect there is a bit more room compared to the motor in your photo !

Yeah the diesel box will be heavy, so have a helper, but I wouldn`t take the front off either.
Drop the subframe down an inch on that side when you need too

If you need a more detailed step-by-step on removing the front (up to a point) if you are ABSOLUTELY sure you need to, I wrote one up with detailed photos that could be of help...
