but sounds like the the outside door handle has broken....anyway, enjoy the audio
Hello,
I was just getting into my MKIII Golf and went to open the front drivers side door and the handle made a click sound and then lost tension and now I can't open the door.
It will still open from the inside and the central locking still works so I am thinking that some kind of rod has slipped out.
I have had a look around for any kind of information about taking off the panel on the inside to try and see if I can fix it myself but there's not much out there.
Has anyone experienced a similar problem and can advise on how to fix it? Is taking the panel off easyish to do, does any one have an instructions for this?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Here is a link I dug up out of my bookmarks, shows you how to take the door trim off.
my car used clips instead of those allen screws, and after taking off the handle, speaker and door lock pull you should just be able to pry it off with a flat head screwdriver.
I wouldnt take the door trim off yet, just take the door handle off. Open the door and ull see a star point bolt in the inside of the door. Undo that and u can slide the doorhandle off. Takes some practice but its easy once u know how. You might need the key in to remove the handle completely too.
My guess is u might have broken a plastic part of the outside door handle which isnt a common thing but i guess ull never find out till u take it apart.
has the handle lost tension? as in it doesnt spring back into position?
cause theres a small hook like plastic piece that grabs a metal strip that then in turn opens the door.
that may be broken, or have simply part away from the strip, if so, its a matter of fiddling around with it until it recatches.
