I watched a guy lose his Kombi to a engine fire the one time the car I was in did not have an extinguisher. I feel they should be compulsory.

Crap luck on the wiring fire. Sometimes a fire in the engine bay can be a write-off (ie. Stat write-off).

    All the best.

A good buddy of mine lost her Kombi to engine fire many years ago too. It was a burnt out shell in less than 5 mins

I too think they should be compulsory. Some people laugh at me for for mine, but if your in a 1200kg box of steel that can go at 100kph+ with a 55L tank of extremely flammable liquid mounted underneath... dont YOU think its a good idea to get a 1kg anti-fire bottle?!?!

Thats right guys go get one!!

Just an update, after endless calls to incompetant claim persons and many many different ALSO miss leading procedures.. It should be out of the salvage yard (grave yard in my opinion) by tomorrow.

Absolutely hate dealing with insurance, especially waiting inline and talking to those menopausal ladieS giving me wrong instructions, costing me time a whole week 8 days to be exact! Instead, this could have been done the next day upon arriving at the yard !!! SOOOO PISSED OFF

Well as long as it doesn't get to 14 weeks, after countless calls like I did when a 64yo chinese guy drove into me at a give way, you should be glad!

Insurance is the most unpleasant feature of car ownership next to injuries

Yeah sounds like you have the ****s with NRMA mate.

They are awkward to deal with though, I had to talk to some lady for 30mins before they would release the car to me. I only needed to give em the address for the tow truck.

Lucky escape for your car Louis, it had all the auction stickers on the window, it was pulled out of the sale yard.

I cant believe they were gonna write it off, I separated the burnt wires and turned the key and it started!

Plenty of burnt wires, I wonder if this is caused by your broken wiper Louis? It has an electrical meltdown in the auxillary loom in front of the driver above the brake booster!

Bit of auto electrical love and she should be right mate.
