i have a few questions regarding my 95' vr6.
1. it has a few center pieces missing. what size pieces are on stock bbs rims and where can i get them from for the cheapest price?
2. what's the cheapest decent cat back out there and where's the best place to buy/install it.
3. the driver's seat doesn't lock properly and has a tendency of riding up and down when i drive it, what's wrong with it and is there a diy method of fixing it?
cheers guys and sorry if the questions rub off as a little retarded. i'm a complete noob when it comes to cars.
Hey mate,
1. Check for centre caps on ebay, measure your ones and match them up to those on ebay. Genuine ones get pricey up to around 70 bucks from memory, but non genuine are much cheaper, about 10-20 bucks for a set from what I've seen.
2. For a catback, your local shop will quote it for around 350 bucks, excluding tips for a custom made catback. The tips get up to over 100 bucks for a set so maybe call it 450. Lots of people like to get the brands like magnaflow, but usually shipping screws you over for a system from overseas. Other ones on heaps of european sites and stuff go for around 400 or so, it depends on if you want aluminium or stainless steel etc... If you're short on $$, a pretty common thing to do is a "briefcase muffler delete", which involves removing one of the mufflers in your system that sits between the resonator and the backbox, and welding straight pipe on instead. have a look under the car to see the big muffler in the middle that looks kind of like a briefcase to see what I'm talking about. I'm planning to do this soon, and I wouldn't pay anything over about 60-70 bucks for it. It won't give you any power upgrades, just a great note that competes with plenty of aftermarket catback systems... A guy off here did a comparison video that I saw the other day that shows the difference in sound before and after this is done:

3. My guess would be a couple of plastic clips on the seat are either broken or removed. If you remove your seat, and take it out of the rails, you will most likely find a couple of cream/white/yellow clips either broken, or maybe you wont find them at all if they're off. If you take out the passenger seat (provided your seat is working fine on the passenger side) then it will probably have them. They sit on the chair's rail that slides into the one built into the car floor. You should be able to go to any VW specialist or dealer, when I had to replace mine they just handed me a spare set for free.
And don't worry about being too much of a noob, we all were once
