entry into the Mk3 world

Hi All

Currently the misses wants to sell of her 2010 berina so she doesn't have to make load repayment any more. Which i think is great coz i hate her car with a passion. To replace it i have been talking her around to a mk3 golf as im a long time euro fan. I have been doing a fair bit of research over the last couple of weeks and just wanted to run some things past the enthusiasts who have been doing this alot longer then me.

so other then the vr6 we only got the 1.8 and 2.0 litre engines in then 8v counter flow setup. Can someone clarify the engine codes for both these engines? as from reading vwvortex it looks like there are alot of engines we didn't get in australia.

Also can someone confirm (excluding vr6) that a 2.0 litre engine didn't come in a 2 door body?

and how does every one search 3 letter engine numbers on this forum as the search function doesn't like it.
