Correct me if I'm wrong but a mk3 2L I think is a 2E motor code.
Today I went to Autobart, and I asked for NGK spark plugs, however they said they will need my engine code coz theres quite a few types on da cataloge, however I can only find VIN n chassis No., the plate is stickin on the suspension mount or wadever u call... does anyone know where it's placed?? i know i m an idiot...LOL
PS: any recommened plugs which are good n last long on Mk3 2lts??
Cheers,
Carlson

Isn't there two different 2L engines in the Golf 3?Originally Posted by ausgolfer

Not in Australia my friend, unless you look in the first of the new Beetles.

Mine should be a normal. I better ask the dealership or look deeper haha
I thought there may have been some Mexican engines here in some Golfs.Originally Posted by ausgolfer
Nope. And the engine code will be on the front of the engine block at the top right near where it meets the cylinder head close to the distributor.

Gold gold gold , you guys are funny .
All mk3 2l Golfs had the same cylinder head . It was made in Mexico .
The early mk3 golfs had digifant injection which had hall sender in dizzy . This engine code is 2E , they also used the flapper air flow meter thats also used on t3's and early bmw's , porsche's mercs etc
The later Mk3's had simos injection which had a crank angle sender in the side of the block , it picked up signals from the flywheel ( 60-2 teeth for those who want to put on aftermarket ecus) The later air flow meter is a hot wire element .
Power is the same 85kw . The Seat Ibiza gti used only the 2E engine
The spark plugs I use are : NGK BUR5ET or if you plan on any mods run a slightly colder plug BUR6ET
oh okey, ya mine's ADY i found out, and i got the BUR6ET
