Hi there all,

I am trying to rule out all possibilities for my nightmare in my

(car is 95 Vr6 12v)

http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/f47/...ise-57965.html

thread. I have the engine on blocks and I have no hoist etc to get it off the ground to drop he sump. Is there any way I can assess the endfloat of the crank without too much disassembly - I already have my landlord breathing down my neck about the car sitting on the front verandah and wants it gone. (yes he is an Ar%&^hole)

Jmac has been great here but I really dont have the tools for doing much more than I already have.

1. how much axial play should there be, can anyone tell me how far the crankshaft should protrude out from the block mating surface or from the end of the seal??? this would help in ruling out the crank as an issue.

I have poured so much money into this and am regretting that I have a 2-door mk1 (swallowtail) that would have been a more worthy pit for this money sitting in the back yard.

Cheers everyone and I would love any feedback.
