Electric window broken - regulator or not?

Well I'm finally sick of my drivers side rear window. I've searched up numerous threads about this but couldn't find one with the exact same scenario. The window, for no reason whatsoever (eg. driving normally, but sometimes starting ignition), will go down from the top right to the bottom, and it won't move up until I persistently keep spamming both the switches for it, swearing and turning the car on/off until it starts to come up and down and gradually back up to the top again for no reason in particular. When I cant wind it up, it makes no noise when I press the switches, no click or anything, and when I put the key in the door and hold it in the lock/unlock position to raise/drop all windows, nothing happens. It has happened around once every 3 weeks or so since not long after I got it, and it could be down for any time between 1 minute and 4 days. I've tried to persist this time and nothing has happened.

I'm hoping it's the window reg so I can just use the cable tie fix , but unlike a lot of other scenarios, it doesn't make the noise of the motor until it finally decides to come up for no reason.

Please help! This is ****ting me up the wall

Could be the switch. Unclip the door card and remove after you have undone the screws in the handle etc. The actual up and down switch is separate and easily removed. check for any kind of rusting. If have driven with window down and water has gone straight in the switch rust might be creating an interruption of the circuit. If not that check the regulator or their could be a solenoid that you might need to look at. I could be wrong.

Alright I had a closer look and opened it all up. The regulator seems to be non-genuine because it looked much different to any DIY guides online, so the cable tie wouldn't really work, but that didn't really seem to be the problem because I turned on the ignition at one point and the window clamp started going up and down inside the door.

The wiring around the switch seems fine, and I wouldn't think that's be the problem because the switch in the front for it doesn't work either... Any other ideas? By the way, pressing the switch doesn't make a noise at all of the motor, but it does make that noise when it randomly decides to go up and down.

I have the same problem with my driver side front window. It used to go up and down on its own especially when first starting the car. It seemed to happen more after a rainy day. Its stuck up now and hasn't been down for about 2 years Would love to know if you find the problem!
