I said to myself, I would stay out of these power loss/dyno thread's, but I've got to say, try it with an honest 30% drivetrain loss.
Work's out to be 161hp at the engine. I reckon that's not too bad at all.
I ran a very loose GTI engine with a Audi throttle body, matched ported intake & made 66atwkw's. 30% loss. 88kw's at the engine = 117hp. Spot on.
For interest sake they made 112hp stock.
I do agree with how fun the car is. Yeah corolla's are about as popular as strands of hair on my head, so it won't be as cool or fun. And, it may be a bit dissappointing having to wait for the power to surge through in the VR, but when it comes on it really comes on....so that's fun :)
I was just surprised to hear our supposed 128kW was at the fly! All I can say is....whoops!
are we talking about corolla sportivos or just normal corollas? haha..
I'm talking about sportivo's, blacktops, my mate's sx (pulls bout 75kW he says, it goes pretty hard!) anything like that
Both, not the newer ones of course 20v's included, even V-tec yo! integra GSi's have felt the wrath of the incorrectly timed 2.slow ! Although I did get utterly smashed by an 1986 EXA once, that was bad...
Those rolla's and civics are honestly slugs up until 6,000rpm, and I also discovered that fancy airbrushing doesn't contribute much to performance either
Nah bro what you talkin' bout yo? Red R's increase horsepower by 10% we all know that!
You should have seen this guy with a PURPLE R....he chomped!!!
I think those figures are about right for your car. Did he mention the fueling?
I just dynod my car and it is about 50hp shy of what it should be due to it leaning out when it comes on boost. I was gutted at first but then realised that I still have more left in it.
Like someone said earlier all dynos read differently. You could run it on another one and get more. You will loose 25-30% through the drive train.
With a VW Motorsport ECU map, custom exhaust, Pipercross CAI and an adjustable fuel pressure regulator my 1995 VR6 made 119kw atw (averaged across 4 different dynos, all pretty close to each other).
It had 150000km on it at the time and was pretty fit. The FPR made about 6kw difference and the VW Motorsport ECU made about 10kw atw. The CAI and exhaust only made about 4kw combined from a stock 99kw.
So, 90kw for stock for the age and km is in the ballpark. Some mods, better oil and a service will liberate a few more ponies.:)
Remember with mods (especially a FPR on a VR6) fuel consumption goes up.....
