dynamat is very expensive and will kill road noise
Ok guys
I understand that Dynamat is heavy but then again so are the sandbags that lay on top of the floorpans. I have seen a few of the tex guys do it and line there floor pans and that with dynamat also to insulate the interior to keep the sound out! How much extra weight would it put on and would it be noticeable?
Also how much is dynamat and can you get it cheap?

Dynamat is the best, i has it in both front doors. Tis probably the only good thing about my stereo right now!

Matt how much did it cost you and also how much weight is it worth?
Also where can you buy the stuff lol?

Dynamat is awesome stuff. But expensive. You can get sound killer in a spray form which i've used before on my doors for the hard to reach areas. it worked but not as good as sheets of Dynamat would.
I guess you should think about what you want to achieve from covering the floor of the car.
If you want to install a decent stereo then i'd imagine you're more concerned about sound quality over weight so definitely do it.
If you're more about keeping the car lightweight for performance, then i'd be inclined not to do it.
But if you want to just reduce noise and aren't worried too much about a little weight extra, then go for it. A quieter ride will be well worth the extra KG or two.

Thanks very much Jon, if were to rip off your carpet you will see there are sandbags that sit under the lining there there a couple of kilos that you can get rid of and throw in the dynamat! I'm thinking of covering the floor and the doors and boot and at the moment most probably going to get rid of the spare wheel cause its pretty useless at the moment lol so I will have more room thats for sure!
Is the Ebay stuff just as good cause on ebay it looks pretty cheap!

To be honest Stevie I'm not too sure about the eBay stuff, but I'll bank money on it being a dissappointing alternative. Dynamat is amazing stuff, and although can get heavy and expensive, as other have said above it's really worth doing for the right reasons.
I've had thoughts about doing something like this to my car but I just can't be bothered....my stereo definitely goes loud enough to cancel any other noise around me hehehe.
I'll come help you if you do it bro!

Just get a louder stereo, problem solved
I have considered it myself, but then I don't have the quality of setup to warrant the expense of the dynamat.

I may end up just buying the dynamat stuff but why I ask is this.
I'm sure Rayray has been keeping his eyes keen on this thread:

You take out all the crap insulation that is there and replace it.
