Great photos, love the bloke in the orange hi-vis vest in the middle one.

Cheers! Yeah was well suited
Vento has been out of action the past couple of weeks with a serious oil leak on top of the already leaky power steering bottle.
Good clean up, swapped hoses, bottle and hose clamps fixed the p/s
Gasket between the oil filter housing and block had let go. Boris at Volkscare to the rescue. Also fixed a couple vacuum leaks while it was there.
Working under cars with no garage on a sloping block in winter is just too hard!
After years of following Water Boy (and hopefully assisting sometimes) to his track days at Sydney Nationals I finally got behind the wheel and took the Vento out on the Phillip Island Circuit.
I was very nervous about how the car would hold up and my driving ability but think I did OK for a first timer.
Car didn't break, I didn't crash into anyone/anything, drove it home and I wasn't the slowest car there!
Some figures just for record keeping
Weighed in at 1185kg with full trim, no driver, and fuel light had just come on. 1275kg with my over weight bum in it
BBS RS at 15x6.5 et16 front and 21 rear, used 195/55/15 RE003
On the 3rd session 5th lap I managed a 2:08.01 with a max speed of 197.0km/h
Fastest time I recorded was 199.9km/h on lap 3 of the same session.
Felt like I had gone faster down the straight in session 2 but don't have it recorded (would have been sick to crack the 200 mark)
Things to do for next time:
Brake bias. The rears locked up a few times, one of which caused me to spin out on turn 4. currently running 288mm with slotted rotors, green stuff pads and braided lines. stock brakes, pads, rotors out back.
Suspension height. I had a fair bit of rubbing on the fronts under heavy cornering. Thanks to my CX racing coils I managed to quickly lift the front between sessions. This would have thrown the alignment out.
Oil cooler. I have one but yet to install. Saw 255F a couple of times on the MFA
Bodyroll. Fair bit of body roll so would like to get the coils setup better and maybe change from the stock VR6 sway bars to something beefer.
Weight. try shave some weight without doing anything drastic to the car. Lighter wheel and tyre combo is already lined up for next time.
Over all had an awesome time.
Thanks to all the boys and bflat for turning 30 and organising the whole weekend!
Pics to come.
Sounds like you had a fun day.

dylan, was great to meet you saturday at the track. you and the lads had a great bunch of diverse and interesting vws, and great to see the fleet out on the track.

I think youve flushed me out of the wood work to join one of the restarted weekend runs, i think vento twins will add some pizazz Ps, you might wanna check recent posts in the spotted in vic thread...

Cheers. I highly recommend for those who are thinking about it.
Nice to meet and chat. Great to hear of other vento owners who appreciate them and also modify them!
Hopefully Zale (who had the black mk4 4motion golf at the track day) can chime in with his white vento too
Cheers. Good times. No match for the mighty megane though!
