Thanks for the input guys. Budget says no atm, so if it has to come out again in 50,000km or so that'll just have to happen. at this stage I just need to get everything in the one car so i can get the golf out of my parents carport before they kill me.
Stage 1 of parts ordered:
Engine Block Gasket Set
Cylinder Head Gasket Set
Ultimate VR6 Timing Chain Kit
Throw Out Bearing
Clutch Release Lever
Fuel Filter
Spark Plug x 6
Pressure Plate Bolt x 6
Screw x 10
Thanks to Jrad for putting up with my million parts questions!
Hopefully do a compression test will come out with ok results and i can get the vento moving soon.
Stage two will be on to suspension bushes, wheel bearings, engine mounts, mk4 shifter, and sort why the engine is running a little too warm and a general tidy up to get it roadworthy and rego'd. Hopefully a healthy tax return will make this sooner then later.
Project V VR 666 steps it up a gear
Only 12months after the vento got dropped off at home
Good form!
Nice looking forward to it

Cheers.
Has anyone pulled their original front quarter off before?
I unbolted everything but it still seemed to be stuck, a quick google search and interwebs check up shows its 'glued' down, i tried to separate the two carefully, but im in fear of bending the panel where it bolts down at the top.
Any suggestions? or just go nuts
heat gun and some form of putty blade/spatula type thingo to cut through the sealer worked for me. They are stuck down pretty hard though
Had the same problem with my wreck yesterday.
One guard practically fell off, while the othe required a little more persuasion.
Good work on the pair of 3s, plus the Bora.
