Dubbers what is my differential diagnosis

To day I parked on a hill, when I hopped in the car it literally slid backwards.. scared the day lights out of me !!! Obviously I slammed on the brakes and pulled the handbrake to the last click.

    anyone had this experience?

So do I need to get rear brake replaced/ somehow tighted the handbrake?
What else can affect the tightness could you guys come up with the differential diagnosis?

I know mine starts to move a bit if u push the car unless the handbrake is at the maximum. Ive never been too worried as i always leave the car in 1st gear and pull on the handbrake until i can no more. Check out this guide about replacing the park brake cable:

I would do it but im lazy and my car is parked flat unless im at uni

u can adjust the handbrake cable up a bit tighter perhaps. there should be a place to adjust the cable behind the brake lever. if u pull the rear ashtray out i think u should be able to see it.

Yeah happened to me before. Good idea to put gear into first when you leave the car.

if i bump the console sometimes my handbrake jumps a couple of teeth. i'd say it needs some silicon spray on the locking mechanism.

    Problem: Weak Arms!

Cause: Warm/Hot Disc and Pads have expanded when you parked. They then cooled over time and shrunk a little reducing the clamping effectiveness of your Handbrake skills.

Fix: Another click or 2 on handbrake.

I only click mine to the 2nd or 3rd click.
