Sell it cheap or to a wrecker.
Hey guys,
I'm a proud owner of a golf mk3 cl 97 model, and had recently got into an accident. The taxi driver that hit me from behind didn't have insurance and his cab wasn't registered under yellow cab so basically i can't claim insurance (i'm on third party). The rear bumper is completely gone, and so is the left tail-light. Instead of repairing it, im thinking of selling it. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how i should go about selling it? by the way, the car mechanically is in tip/top shape. The person i purchased it from replaced the gearbox with a brand new one 2 yrs ago.

or you can part it out
might take a bit longer but you may be able to make more
hey mate our family owns a taxi base with 45 cabs. it is mandatory that all operators (exception to no one) must have insurance being it public liability and full insurance.
so i suggest u go to the base where the operator is and go from there or you can bring the matter up with ministry of transport where they operator gets slumped with a multimillion dollar fine.
this is a serious matter you simply cant register a cab without going through the ministry of transport with public liablility and comprehensive insurance as well as various stringent inspections (to even get the cab to operate)
do ur research and find where the operator is.

Hi guys, thanks for all the prompt responses. Basically the guy who hit me didn't have a registered cab, as in he bought a second hand cab that wasn't registered and just ran it at his own expense. I was thinking of parting it, but how would i go about doing it? I know my stuff about cars, but I'm not too flash at pulling it apart. Anyone interested in purchasing it? it's only got around 145K on the clock. Or does anyone need parts?

Get an estimate (or three) for repairs (or the write off value - what you can sell/salvage it for) and head to the court and have a letter of demand registered with the sherrif (will cost you about $50).
The sherrif then hand delivers it to the guy in question who has to either pay or contest the claim in court. Failing to do anything means he gets to pay, after the prescribed number of days has passed (if nothing happens) you can get the court to enforce garnishing his wages etc to recover your monies.
Don't walk away from this empty handed, it's not your fault and you shouldn't be out of pocket. It may take a long while, but the system does work (eventually). Keep good notes of every phone call, every conversation, every letter, quote etc etc. If needed when you front up in court with a pile of evidence vs a guy with nothing... guess who wins?
If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you. | Refer a Friend - AussieBroadband $50 Credit
either try and chase it up with the cab driver to get some money, as Per Hawk suggetion, or what it on ebay with the damage, and just have a reasonable reserve considering how much it would cost to get repaired, that way you are rid of the car./
any pics of the damage, how serious is it?
The driver that hit you will have to pay.
Hound him until he pays up.
Its not your fault, he cant drive and you can make trouble for him until he does.

Exactly. I don't know why you're not hitting up the taxi driver for compensation. He's got no insurance so he's gonna have to pay it through his own wallet. If he's not budging, tell him you'll call the police and go to court. Go grab a quote or two for the damages and show them to the guy.
Hey guys, yeah trust me, i've been trying that for the past 2 months. After searching for the guy for a good month, I had found out he left back to his home country (india of coarse) and know i'm stuck with my golfs damage costs. I just think it wouldn't be worth repairing, though it's mechanically A1. I'd rather sell it to someone who wants to repair it and keep it, or part it. I just want as much cash as I can get for it, I wouldn't think I'd get much from the wreckers, or would I?
