    Custom Code for VR6?

This is more an open PM to Gavin, the Custom Code agent with a question about Custom Code and how it works on the Mk3 VR6?

Do you have any further specific details for the VR6 as I'm sure there may be a few people in here that would be interested in seeing the answer to this one.

    What gains can be expected?
Being that your in Adelaide, how would things work for those of us in other states?

    Aaron

Maybe... it sounds like a recode of the stock chip, but I don't know at this stage. It's one of our sponsors ( http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/newf...ad.php?t=15902 )

So I'm interested in more specific info.

    Aaron, Thanks for the Question.

I'll be honest with all you VR6 boys, I became an agent to flash ECUs on turbo cars. This was due to the solid/easy gains that you get when bumping boost.

Due to the reduced gains on NA vehicles, without digging deep into your wallet, I never thought that physical chips would be a big part of my business. I have always considered NA chips not to be good value.

Having said that, it is a business. So I will ask C-C what they can do.

First, I would like to get together a list of VR6 ECU numbers, from interested parties and then get prices, availability and expected gains.

Personally, I wouldn't expect to see much more than 5-10% tops from a chip alone. This would be at the top end, what you experience though is improved driveability. On a dyno sheet this would be 'area under the curve'. This is a truer representation of an engines ability.

Start the ECU list and we can go from there.

    Cheers

    Gavin

There are a whole range of sites online such as check-sum that provide free tunes for a variety of vehicles. If we have a car that you yourself cannot find a tune for would you consider bench flashing a chip for someone with a tune they selected?

Anyways, I'm deadly interested in this and here is my CPU code for my 2e 8v:

    037 906 025R

    Cheers, Branko

I don't flash chips myself, I don't have the hardware for it. Custom-Code do it in the UK then send me the chips.

I'll add your ECU to my list of queries though.

Ahhh... ok thats fine, I understand. I encourage any other mk3'er, VR6, 2.slow, 16V, or anything else for that matter to put their CPU codes down for this, since there might not be another opportunity to get a proper chip tune for our cars.

Its very hard to get a tune for an NA euro-spec VW.

Its sitting in a bracket underneath the rain on the left. Take the wipers off, take the rain tray off, then unbolt the three nuts holding the CPU housing on the chassis bracket and then read the large central number on the CPU.

    Easy...
