Mk3 Golf FK Coilovers - Dub Tuned
Use these on the vr6 and are quite nice for the price.
I fitted these with some new strut top mounts and bearings and the the ride is great.
Hi all,
I almost feel a bit bad for asking as im sure there is a lot of info re this. most of what i found was very old.
Where are people buying their coilovers from and are they happy with the brands, price and results?
im looking at buying soon, but i dont want to spend like $1,000.
Cheers,

your thread is bad and you should feel bad, nah jokes.
Have a look here, they're local. Mk3 Golf Archives - Dub Tuned
There should be a stiff or not too stiff, quality and handling thread somewhere here but I'm too lazy to find it.
edit; doridori beat me to it!

Yeah the FKs work well.
I fitted them to replace the blown shocks that were on the car when i got it but i also didn't want to spend a bucketload so i went with them and did a mild drop on the car.
Ride is not harsh and heaps more compliant (to me) than the PSS10 in the Jetta that i have.
I don't have any complaints on them and although i'm sure there are better performing kits out there, they are great for a daily.
Sam at Dub Tuned is great to deal with too![]()

I just spoke with Sam at DubTuned and looks like i can get them delivered for $450.00 seems pretty good. Another JOM brand for $550.
He stated they are basically the same.
There is a JOM Extreme that is adjustable for $800 odd. idk if i need to adjust dampers?
as long as the FKs are not offensive junk that are like riding with no shocks?
But in saying my current original set up bottoms out and crunches over Everything. it also flopps around a heap. its rough as guts.
brain dump over![]()

what type of driving do you do?
if it's just daily/spirited driving and not track driving you probably don't need adjustables.
my FKs are quite comfy and are far and away from like driving with no shocks.
my originals also constantly bottom out as well as making the car handle like a cruise liner.
i doubt you will find better for the money

suspension is such a big part of the driving experience I'm not sure why people want to cut corners. Having a professional install proper suspension and then tune it to the car makes such a difference. I saw Centreline Suspension in Melbourne and had a set of BC Racing 'BR Series' Coilovers installed. Together with a set of Yokohama AD80 Tyres I'm pretty confident Entering any corner at any speed. The suspension was $2K with all installation and setup included in that price. Worth every dollar in my mind and I won't have to worry about it again. Buy once, cry once...

I suggest fk's although I have hot tuning coilovers , I believe fk's are the "better" quality ones for around the same price , cheaper for u![]()

Thanks all for the great feed back.
As i only paid such a small amount for the car i might settle for the FKS![]()
peoples general satisfaction gives me confidence to buy.
Cheers.
