    Question Cluster Lights

I had one of the lights go and wanted to replace it. Since I'm going to have to take the whole cluster out I thought why not order a complete set of bulbs to change the colour?
Has anyone changed them over to a different colour and were they dimmable?
How easy was it to replace the bulbs?

unfortunately i'm fairly sure that the bulbs are just normal incandescent bulbs with a clear glass housing. It is the internals of the cluster that make it a green colour.... I think! So you have to change lenses and whatnot to change the colour. Heaps of DIYs on vortex etc.

I've been vortexing it up and can't find exactly what bulbs I need.
Are these what I'm looking for? 10 PC74 T5 LED Twist Socket Red Instrument Panel Cluster Plug Dash Light Bulb

EDIT: For interior switches (since I'm changing the cluster I want the rest to match) I've sourced some 3mm 12V red LEDs. Opened up a switch and the green LED inside is a 12V one. I could use 2.2V LEDs and wire in a resistor like I've seen on vortex but that's a bit messy. This way I simply remove the green one and slot in the red one, solder both sides and done.

You can buy direct change color bulbs, they're not cheap and not as straight forward as plug and play as u think, I looked into this some time ago and there is some soldering as well as other bits and pieces. Admitingly i looked at all interior lights such as door trim, cluster, switches, air con, etc...

Those are the lights you need, im pretty sure, i just recently changed the green filter out for a blueish filter and those look the same as the stock ones.

So it's just a filter for the colour? Might just order one plain globe then and swap out the filter.
Have any photos of the colour filter that I would need to change? (or a vortex link)

I've replaced mine with these LEDs: (the white ones)

Also can get them from here, but shipping is expensive from the US

The size/standard you're looking for is the B8.5D. Dimming still works. They just twist-lock into a little box thing on top of the cluster. The trouble I had with these was that the the terminals don't contact that well (my original bulbs were having the same problem). You might have to make them fit by bending the terminals on the bulbs with pliers. Also something to note is that LEDs are polar so you might have to rotate them around a few times (fairly certain the Law of USB applies here ). Between these two things it can take a bit of faffing around to get them to work. When you remove the cluster, you can sit it there and lean it all the way forwards, you should be able to pull the cable forward enough to plug it in. Leave the battery connected and turn the lights on and you'll be able to see when they're working. I'd also recommend getting a couple of spares too, because I managed to break them the first time I tried.

The colour comes from the a green filter. I remember seeing (can't find it now) on the Vortex somewhere that someone had made up a diagram of the filter so you could get one made up in a different colour, but you could probably just cut some coloured plastic.

Changing the bulbs to a different colour but not the filter might cause problems, because of physics or something.

cheers, I live practically right next to a jaycar so I'll pop in and grab a few.
Found the document that shows the filters for the top which are for the whole cluster colour.
Might be too much work to replace the bottom two LCD filters which involves taking off the dials and needles so I'll leave those for now.

Thinking of changing to blue instead of red since it goes better with the colour of the car...and red lights...yeah just realised
