CL Pod filter install - issues?

Hey guys, just a general enquiry here about installing a pod filter. Now I'm totally aware that being an 8v I'm not going to get any gains whatsoever with a pod, and that it's actually pretty ricey and stupid to put one on (just want it for the sounds lol) but my main question here is, how do I go about the install?

I'm aware that my MAF is on the top of my intake manifold? pic:

but if you take the panel filter out and look underneath, at the bottom of the airbox there is a tube from the exhaust coming into the airbox? Could this be to do with cold starts? Does the orange braided cable control the little valve?

I've been searching for a few days to find an answer somewhere online but it I'm having no luck.

    Cheers.

You can remove the whole air box, and replace it with a pod.

Put a screw in the end of the braided orange vacuum hose to block it, and just remove that larger pipe that comes from the exhaust manifold.

    That wont bugger anything up?
And if I remove the pipe coming from the exhaust manifold does that mean the air from said manifold will just go into my engine bay?

    Nah, it'll be fine.

That pipe just transfers heat from the outside of it. Not really needed in this climate.
