    Chipped windscreen

It looks like a picked up a stone chip way back at German Car Day, but only noticed it last week!

So I booked for O'Briens to repair it, $109!

Call me a tightarse if you want, but that seems a bit steep ???

Dunno about you but i did my windscreen chip on insurance. Cost me $0 as i had that as an extra on my fully comp policy so didn't affect my No Claims either.

Might be worth seeing what you're covered for.

I have had a many a windscreen repair or replacement to pass rwc on cars i sell. The quote u have there is to fill the crack with gold obviously..avoid the major chains like the plague. Eventually I found a guy up here who does the work fixing cracks on rental cars for Avis etc. Quick and cheap..

They actually don't fix the crack though, the just dull the sharp (reflective) edge and squeeze some glue in to stop it spreading.

pays to check with your insurer. some have it in the policy that you get a replacement windscreen each year for no cost.
    My policy with Shannons does.

My policy with RAC does too. I figured I'd be all goody two shoes and just get it fixed rather then go thru the rigmarole of getting it replaced.

I might buzz the rac tomorrow morning and see, even though I loathe dealing with big anyones :\

Went through RAC Matty when I got that bottle lobbed at mine...replaced next day at Instant Windscreens. I had to go to their workshop in Ossie Park due to difficult seals etc, rather than coming out to me. If it happened at GCD the glassies will likely say it has been too long for it to be repaired anyway so RAC is prolly the way to go.
