    car died

hi, i have a 96 gl 2.0 8v golf. was driving home today and as i accelerated nothing happened then the car just died. it has power and cranks but won't start. petrol read at just under 1/4 above the red lines. could it be that it was just too hot or has the fuel pump gone. i never let it run dry and use 95 octane all the time. PLEASE HELP

If it's ever had a new pump in it, chances are whoever did it, goofed up.

They often put the pump in the cradle too high.
