    Car cutting out once started?

    Hey guys,

Im having issues, I just started my car and it dies basicallya fter half a second.

Put a timing light on it, and its losing spark just before it dies.
Also, after removing the engine and replacing the clutch, when this occurs i've had the engine crank by itself.
    Thinking possibly dodgy ignition switch.

Is there anything common to look out for? Its just had a new ignition coil too.

Also, once its started it doesnt die, its fine.

    Cameron.

Its a GL Classic if thats anything.

Ive just put a keyless entry kit in.

Would the immobiliser be kicking in after its started though? I thought it would disable the starter motor?

So sounds typical of my problem?

So you think its something to do with my aftermarket keyless?

I doubt the keyless is it. Take the cowl off under the steering wheel and you'll find he key reader around the ignition lock. Follow the cable down until you get to the connector. disconnect it and reconnect it. Then try again.

Mine does this. It's been diagnosed as either a dodgy crank sensor or something else which was gunna cost $400 to replace. It happens randomly enough that I'll live with it for now.

Immobiliser will allow it to start and then cut out after a second or 2. Have it scanned , itll pick up a low key or reading spool signal. Do you have 2 keys???? If yes try the other key for a while and see how random it is. If still the same you could probably discount the transponders.
