Can the trims on a VR6 be painted?

    Hey guys,
After trying many products for keeping my bumpers, rear spoiler and wheel arches / trims / sideskirts etc black I'm totally sick of having to do it all over again every time I wash the car So is it possible to get these parts painted in a satin black or will the textured finish not take the paint? Also, if anyone has had it done what sort of $$ did it cost?

    Cheers
    Simon

I have a 96 so the bumpers are supposed to be painted, but the front bar has been replaced with an early model so the back is painted but the front is not...

From what I have heard it can be painted, but in wont come out smooth without a fair amount of work.

Plan B is to get a panel shop to do it.

In my case I also need the front quarters re-done as they have some arches where someone tried to fit some arches (which don't go on this model).

I am thinking about trying it myself with a couple of cans, but then I have one small trim piece to do first so I might see how well that fares before screwing up the bumper

recently found shoepolish, I washed my car 2-3 times now still going strong, cost me 3 bucks for whole car ..

I have removed all trims, sand 3 coats, bigish job lasted me about 3 months. Try black shoe polish. Works for me.

Rayray recommended "autogym" bumper black, works well too.

Hmm interesting, may give the bumper black a go, sure am getting sick of reapplying armor all type products after every wash.

more than that, it gets really crappy really quickly, going to try the Auto Glym myself when I get a chance to go to the shop.

I tried some of the meguiars stuff ($17 ) and it was better but still only lasted 2 washes or 2 bouts of rain till it started looking dodgy. Being a black car it gets washed once a week so is a bit of a pain re doing the trims that often.
