How much total power gain would you get out of cams + intake manifold? $5,700 is a massive stack of cash!

I reckon it would take you over 200 hp. Don't forget that the VR was not built with extracting more HP from it. The 2.9 which is just an overbored 2.8 does 190hp in the Corrado with essentially the same components.

If you want VFM power gains you need to go with forced induction. NA engines are always going to cost money to get power from.

The Schrick Manifold isn't all about top end, it uses variable inlet lengths to get a better spread of power.

the schrick 268's were the most road driveable cams by all reports 10 years ago. intake manifold is great - from memory opens up at 3500rpm (tim?). good for a few hp and torque.

to take advantage of the cams, you need a new chip though. ii don't think it would be driveable without it.

the default manifold opening position is 4000rpm. but the controller allows you to adust the opening and closing via a set of DIP switches. 4000RPM seems to be a nice point tho. cos when youre right on it u dont notice the changover so much cos the car is making good power.
