roof racks on a convertible... wow. never imagined that.
They might be custom made?
Does anyone know what these are called, the bars that attach to the car for the roof racks to mount onto?
I'm assuming they're Thule and allow for the 404 roofracks to be mounted to a cabriolet. Anyone seen these in Australia? Or better yet does anyone have a set? I want one.
Cheers
Tim

Thule definitely made a separate set of racks for the Cabrio. Pretty sure the 404 nor the 444 will not fit as they pinch onto the roof rails of the hatchback. I think Votex also made a roof rack set for the Cabrio.
Search vwvortex. There's quite a few on there that have racks for their Cabrios. I don't think you can buy them new anymore.
Edit: Found a part number - 1E0 071 126. Perhaps try the VW dealer and see if they have any untaken options lying around.

Hmm thanks for that, very interesting.
That pic has a Thule fairing, but I guess it could have been somehow attached to a Votex rack.
I have a set of 404 roof racks, so if they don't fit the cabrio roof bar things then I guess there's no use looking for em.
But I reckon roof racks on a cabrio is the best thing ever hahaha
Sorry I made a typo in my post, I meant 404 and 444 will NOT fit.
Keep looking, you never know when a listing on eBay pops up.
