    Broken door lock thread

My driver's side door look doesn't lock the car when you turn the key, they key can turn but does nothing.

I remember a thread on the old vbulletin site that was pretty long and explained how to repair this and the parts needed. If anyone can find that for me that'd be nice.

Failing that can anyone tell me how to fix this? Something about taking out the lock barrel and some sort of new pins are required if I remember right.

Depends on what is broken exactly.
If the hook has broken on the back of the barrell, then you will need to replace this.
You can use a second hand barrell and swap over the pins that are in the current one, takes 10 mins and pretty easy.

Yup, the part that has broken is a lock eccentric. A paddle that engages the lock at one end and a hook at the other end on the back of your keybarrel. The hook has broken off. 100%

The later Mk3 locks from VW had bigger hooks and so you would need another lock barell. There is a Seat Part you can use to mate to the earlier barell and I can explain it to you when you call.
