Brake discolorisation

Anyone elses brakes turn blue like this?

They are accualy smoking in this photo, but you can't see it in the photo.

Wat they are that what happening when your brakes dont cool down... U need som ducting... I wouldnt worry... Thats why racecars have a warm down lap to cool brakes and tryes etc...

I may have been driving hard......

They pretty much always look like that. Idont normally stop straight after driving like that, but i did that time to take a photo. I figured its not doing anything bad, as my pedal still feels good, though i should probly replace the fluid. Get some DOT 5 in there.

Also note, the brakes where not fading at this point!

mate, that 'discolourisation' is basically what heat treated metal looks like...
steel turns different colours as it heats up, blue means about 300 degrees, nothing to worry about, if anything it stops rust on your rotors as the blue colour forms a protective layer over the top of the steel

Yeah its just heat disepation keep driving harder and left foot braking

Violet, then ultraviolet. See if you can keep pushing it and it might emit some X and gamma rays

And if I'm not mistaken, our brake hydraulic system only takes DOT 4?

DOT 4 is a minimum. best upgrade you can do is better fluid.
Ever used a car with DOT 6 fluid? the pedel feels Great and doesn't boil the fluid when driven REALY REALY hard.

if you can get them glowing red hot (at around 700 degs off the top of my head).. well; I'll be impressed..

after blue a brown colour i believe but that would be a serious effort
