    Brake conversion

    Hi all,

I've been thinking of a brake conversion to VR6 spec on my GL. At the moment, this is geared towards the fitment of 5 stud rims, but the larger brakes may be justified later in the future when I'm planning to get some performance.

I'd just like to know whether or not this is a done and tried (and safe) conversion? What will be the issues involved with insurance, and getting it engineer complied? Roughly how much money will I be parting to get them fitted?

Matt, I know you have a pair of front VR6 brakes, and may contact you later about them.

    Cheers,
    Raymond.

Maybe bite the bullet and do a full VR6 swap, that is if you like your chassis/colour/condition...

You could probably buy a VR6 wreck from like pickles or fowles for about 2K that will give you a new motor bigger brakes, rear sub frame and 5 stud wheels...

Otherwise, for just brakes, use vr6 callipers and carriers on you ride, with Seat Cupra 16v 280mm 4x100

Or for 5x100, you'll need hubs, maybe plus suspension driveshafts, lower control arms maybe, rear subframe, etc....

Yeah I have 2 front hubs, complete with brakes etc for $200
You will also need a set of new 5x100 brake rotors for the back and thats it.

Hehe I've got no space to keep another car around, tempting may it seem.

So is it just a matter of removing what I have now, and bolting those ones on?
