    Bolt size

Anyone happen to know the size of the bolts holding down the intake manifold cover and ignition wire guide on the VR6?

Are you talking about the head of the bolt? I reckon they could be M6 or M8 spline drive?

    Gavin

EDIT, looked on ETKA and it says the thread is M6 with multisplined head, so probably M6 spline

I chewed the crap outta those trying to use a torx head (didn't know any better at the time) Replaced with good old hex's (allen key variety)

The closest I could find in my hunt today was a big set of Torx socket drivers.

I did test to see if they fit properly before going at them, and I tell you while it's not a 100% perfect fit, it's really close, say 95%. The bolts themselves were not really tight so one turn with the socket and they could be wound out by hand. If they were really tight maybe it would start to round them out, but these will keep me quiet for the moment.

Mine had thread lock on them (previous owner complete knob end?) and I rounded out two Thank god for the mighty Dremel I say It was just easier for me to replace them with allen head bolts as I have a few left over from the Escort rebuild days

I think it was an apres factory job with mine as they used that nasty red stud lock, the stuff you can glue ships together with Even so I don't see why they'd loctite them in the factory, seems strange huh?
