Afraid not. Another knock back. Bunch of ****s. Is hard to keep motivated when it keeps failing regardless of my money and time spent. I'd spoken to the mechanic before I swapped the drums to discs to make sure it would be all ok, and they said yeah, today I get it inspected again and everything is fine, he pressure tested the brakes and no leaks or anything (which is good news as I wasnt completely sure) but now says I need a mod plate for them. I was 80% sure if you were just swapping to things from another golf of the same model and all it was fine, but they disagree. Much arguing occurred. I contacted the transport department and asked, and they said they should be okay. Called mechanic again, they still wont do it. **** em. Interesting how they treat me completely differently to how they treat the parents who work right next door and have been going to him for years. If I were older with a newer car it would have passed easy, I can guarantee it. Looks like its time to move onto mechanic number 3.

That all sounded a bit more harsh then I meant. Hes just doing his job and when 18 year old kids like my self turn up and talk like we know more about the thing then the trained mechanic who's probably been doing cars for longer then I've been alive it must be irritating. Not that that was my intention at all. What annoyed me was they said it would be ok, so I spent like 10 hours and a few hundred dollars doing the swap, only for him to say no.

I do work at mitsubishi and work with people from service all the time, so maybe I'll book it in there and theyll go a bit more easy or something. Not that I really know any of the mechanics

Who are you going to? I would be taking it around to Rod at Advanced Service Center. They are the local VW specialist. He knows his stuff!

You poor bastard, mechanics can be the straightest blokes you ever met or the dodgiest kents.
For professional services like mechanics where it varies depending on the mood of the bloke, the day, what he had for lunch, etc I would only go to specialists or people you know/trust. I don't even trust dealerships as they are just a bunch of apprentices.
Just get it done once, and done right. good luck!!

I might take it to them next, that's were I had my old car serviced and fixed up, they certainly did a good job and sorted out a complicated fuel problem. I figured for a road worthy someone who didn't know there stuff would be better

bummer man.. i definitely know how frustrating it can be getting a car through the rego process in qld. Have you tried going in with something obviously unroadworthy? missing tail light or headlight etc to try and take some heat off the 50/50 calls. sometimes they like to just have some things to write a small list, if nothing is obvious then the in depth search begins?

Hey bro, I had the same problem. I kept taking it back to the same mechanic who would find something else wrong every time I came back to him. He referred to my coilovers as "those coily things" , obviously a dumb *****. so I called a mobile guy and gave me one straight up.
