Love how deep the red paint still is. Good score on the car :thumb:
Well my buffer finally arrived yesterday and I had some time before work this morning so I fixed up the paint on the bumpers, which has been bugging me ever since I bought the car. If any one is interested I'm more than happy to do a quick DIY write up on this (I'm a trade qualified spraypainter). I popped some chrome dress rings on the wheels as well, still waiting for my centre caps. Any ways here some pics

I'm pretty happy with it although I'm still most likely going to be painting the top section of the bumpers black as well as the bottom lips. I have the day off work tomorrow so I'll probably be buffing the entire car. Progress is a bit slow as I haven't had many days to spend time on it.
Cheers,
Beau
looking good, I wouldn't paint it black.
Doing much towing?
Got a chance to do a little more the zee golf yesterday. Mainly just a small repair on the front bumper along with some painting, I've now buffed the entire car as well so it's starting to look pretty neat. I missed a package from TOLL yesterday which I think(hope) will be my hubcaps centers, leaning more and more towards painting the steelies gloss black when I get those.
Needs some low ASAP but I don't think it will be happening for a while now. An opportunity has came up and I'm going to be moving place in about 2 weeks so I need to buy some furniture and other house bits and bobs so the golf will probably get a little neglected. On the plus side I'll have access to a garage that I can work out of at the new place so winter won't be a problem.

on second thoughts, the black looks great!
Are the black bumpers textured or smooth? I assume they are smooth.
Love the black!
Haha I was interested to see what you would think. Main reason I went with the black was the top section of the front bar had a few decent chips and scratches taken out of it and the top section of the rear bar was really faded to begin with. After buffing the bumpers as well it was amazing to see how little the amount of paint is on these bumpers from factory and also that the bumpers are painted in a direct gloss and the rest of the car is a clear over base. No idea why Volkswagen would do this.
The black on the bumpers is smooth, the bottom skirts and mouldings still have a light texture. I could of smoothed them out but ehh they look fine as is. Starting to look a bit like your profile pic eh? lol
