I think those racks will be riveted to the roof unfortunately.
Don't worry, main things will be coilovers and wheels. All the rest will be to tidy the car up and small creature comforts like a decent set of speakers.
Not sure, I started running out of sun by the time I had a look and turns out it they are square allen key heads rather than standard, which I don't think I have a set for. I'm hoping the only bolt (that I can see) is purely to hold the main beam to the mounts and that they are only held with some kind of glue or double sided tape. The roof lining is sagging which is making me think it may have been removed before to drill some disgusting big holes for the roof racks :'( I'll find out soon enough.
In other news, the previous owner definitely had a small dog with white wispy hair and he definitely let it come for drives. I spent a fair amount of time detailing the interior and I'm pretty happy with it now. The top of the steering wheel is starting to break up a little so I shoved on a cover - which doesn't fit properly, thanks super cheap haha.
Blackened out the wheel wells, factory over spray was bugging me. You can also see what I mean about the faded bumpers. The middle section will be fine but the tops are starting to let go so they will be painted soon.
And lastly I 'installed' some super awesome solar power bobble heads from my recent trip to Japan
Still waiting on cutting compound and my buffer in the mail. Hoping that will all be here this week as I have a few days off and want to get any painting done before it starts raining regularly.
Also does any one know where I can get a set of these VW center hubcaps?
Or alternatively what type of VW are these off? I know they are 14" and will pop straight on, I'd just like to find a set in Perth rather than the states. Although I do have a major preference for the ones above.
Thanks,
Beau

I don't think they are riveted, there's a single allen key bolt on either side. Either way I'm positive they are directly mounted to the roof. They're actually growing on me which is kind of weird.
Well my cutting compound came yesterday but I'm still waiting on my buffer so that I can fix up the front and rear bumper. In the mean time I used the spoiler as a test piece.
Will be doing the lower lip on the front and rear bars, side moldings and also the top section of the bumpers once I've cleaned them up. I might also do the front grille and tidy up the badges.
And my whitewalls came in the post all the way from Turkey. Some how these came before any thing that I've ordered from the eastern states.
looks sick as! need wider wheels!
Just a bit lower to fix the black gap and maybe 20mm spacer on the back and I reckon this thing will look sweet as!

So what exactly did you use on the spoiler? Looks awesome
I've got some chrome VW centre caps on the way, off an old Jetta? I think, which should fit. I haven't ordered any coilovers yet but they are on the shopping list.
I used dupli-color flexible bumper paint. I read a few reviews and it seems to hold up well, it's about $17 a can so it's a bit pricey in comparison to other cheaper stuff but if it lasts it's money well spent I think. The nib is also heeeeaaaps better than a standard spray can so it actually sprays quite well for aerosol.
Interested to see how long it lasts, but I think it should last ages.
I used Dupli-colour high heat paint with a couple of clear coats for good measure and still looks the same as the day I painted it.
I used Export Paint the first time because I already had it and that didn't last at all.

Someones really gotta make a solid list of what we have all used, cost and how long it lasts. Would be so handy
