check for stones caught in the brake dust shields. Has happened to my VR6 a couple times.
Does it change with revs or road speed? Is it just a constant sound. More info perhaps
Hey guys
I need a little help, on my way to work this morning my trusty VR6 developed an awful grinding noise as I was a few metres from work. I limped her to work and it made this noise the whole way.
Any ideas what it could be?? The noise itself sounds like a combination of a crunk and grind. It's definetly not coming from the engine. I thought it may be brakes but I have checked them and they look fine. It sounds it may be coming from around the drive shaft maybe??
I've just tried to show a co worker, and not a thing at all even went for a little drive down the road and back.

From what I could tell it didn't change with revs or road speed at all. Honestly when I first heard it i paniced and slowed right down. I probably stayed at a constant 40km the rest of the way to work and it made this sound the whole way
I have a feeling it might have been a stone as i took the wheel off and put it back on and then there was no sound.
Just worried it may be something major like a bearing gone.
Trust me when I say bearings don't do that sort of thing lol..
A bearing noise will gradually appear louder and louder as a humming sound. It doesn't sound BAD, it's just very, very annoying. Of course, if you leave it for ages (.....) then yeah even that will sound bad.
